118th Street Sewer Pump Station Improvement Project

Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (Petticoat-Schmitt) completed a project to upgrade and rehabilitate the existing sanitary sewer pump station located at 5104 118th Street near Ringhaver Park. This project included replacing the valving and piping at the station, upgrading the electrical components of the facility, and upgrading the building’s exterior.
This project was necessary to ensure the reliability of the sewer system that serves the neighborhood. Failures to sewer systems can potentially cause major sewer back-ups, environmental harm and roadway issues.
Completion Date: Fall 2023*
Construction Conditions
Work occurred within City of
Jacksonville rights-of-way and easements, and primarily on the pump station
property. The final phase of the work involved site restoration that included the installation of a new guardrail and curbing per City of Jacksonville standards near the front of the JEA sewer pump station facility.
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area will occur after these upgrades have been completed. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways and/or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
